To enhance management efficiency, CHIMEI merges with subsidiary CHIMEI Asahi Corporation.
2008
CHIMEI Corp. signs formal agreement with Grand Pacific Petrochemical under which Zhenjiang CHIMEI is merged with Zhenjiang Guoheng Plastics. Following the merger, Zhenjiang CHIMEI’s annual ABS capacity rises to 700,000 tons, making it the leading ABS manufacturer in China.

Group establishes CHIMEI brand and updates corporate identity system.
2002
Start of polycarbonate (PC) production.
Production of optical-grade light guide plates.
2000
Receives Japan’s TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Outstanding Award.
1999
CHIMEI establishes the CHIMEI Asahi Corporation through a joint venture with Japan’s Asahi Kasei. The new company produces polycarbonate (PC) after testing and confirming a new, environmentally-friendly “non-phosgene, no solvent” method.
Founder Shi Wen-Long (Chairman of the CHIMEI Corp. at that time) receives the 4th Nikkei Asia Prize from Japan’s Nihon Keizai Shimbun,Inc.. Shi was the first private individual to receive this honor, and was also the first resident of Taiwan to do so.
CHIMEI Corp. passes ISO 14001 environmental protection certification.

CHIMEI begins R&D and manufacturing of electronic chemical products.

Establishment of Zhenjiang CHIMEI Chemical.

Begins production of (TPE) rubber products.

Begin production of AS resins.

Acquires PMMA pellet and panel technology, and begin production of acrylic pellets.

Establishes the CHIMEI Culture Foundation.

Produces ABS (monthly capacity of 200 tons), making CHIMEI the first ABS producer in Taiwan.
1973
Adopts an employee stock ownership system ahead of most companies in Taiwan.
1972
Organizes an operating committee, and separates management powers from ownership (general manager system).
1969
Begin production of polystyrene products (GPS/HPS/EPS).
1968
Establishes identifying “CM” logo, which is used until 2005.
Establishes Poly Chemical as a joint venture with Japan’s Mitsubishi Petrochemical to produce polystyrene (PS) products.
1965
Establishes the Chi-Lin Resin Company as a joint venture with Mitsubishi Petrochemical and Mitsubishi Corporation, engages in the manufacture of PE processed products.
1960
Becomes Taiwan’s first acrylic producer.
Mr. Shi Wen-Long establishes CHIMEI Co., Ltd..
